Magpies stopper accepts praise from manager
Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini has responded positively in the wake of manager Alan Pardew's praise following their 1-1 draw with Spurs.
The Argentina stopper scored Newcastle's opener and Pardew labelled him the 'stand-out player' in the game after the full-time whistle at St James' Park.
Coloccini was much-maligned following the team's relegation from the Premier League in 2009 but the 29-year-old has gone from strength to strength since and is now an integral part of their squad.
The former Deportivo La Coruna ace was delighted to win praise from Pardew and he is full of respect for the ex-Southampton and Charlton manager's opinion.
Pleased
"I am really pleased to hear what the manager has said," said Coloccini.
"I am calm, I am quite quiet really, but sometimes you need to be like that as a defender.
"I like to try and anticipate what is going to happen in the game. For the manager to describe me as one of the best defenders he has worked with is also good.
"He has a lot of experience in the Premier League and he watches a lot of centre-backs so I am proud to hear that."
