Caroline Wozniacki edged a step closer to her maiden grand slam after reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
The world number one booked her place in the second week Down Under with a scrappy win over Anastasija Sevastova at Melbourne Park.
Question marks will inevitably remain as to whether the young Dane has what it takes to win a major, after producing a functional rather than impressive performance on a sun-kissed Rod Laver Arena.
Wozniacki's superior consistency proved the difference in the fourth round encounter as Sevastova coughed up 36 unforced errors, before being on the receiving end of a 6-3 6-4 defeat in a match that lasted an hour and 20 minutes.

The top seed made a surprisingly nervous start to the contest, being broken by the Latvian in the opening game.
But the 20-year-old former US Open finalist regained the upper hand with two breaks of her own to close out the first set.
The second set could have gone either way but Wozniacki always seemed to outlast Sevastova, as the error-count started to mount from the racket of the world number 46.
A flurry of breaks at the end of the set resulted in Wozniacki having the chance to serve for the match, and she made no mistake to secure a quarter-final spot against either Svetlana Kuznetsova, the conqueror of Justine Henin, or French Open champion Francesca Schiavone.
