Redknapp provides injury update ahead of Blackpool trip
Harry Redknapp is hopeful Gareth Bale is closing on a comeback for Tottenham Hotspur, but has not set a date for Vedran Corluka's return from injury.
Welsh flyer Bale has been sidelined for the past month after being forced off early on in the January win away to Newcastle United with a back problem.
Bale will miss Tuesday's Premier League trip to Blackpool and a return to action for the UEFA Champions League second leg against AC Milan next month has been mooted.
Redknapp has not confirmed when he expects Bale to be back in contention, but feels the former Southampton youngster is nearing a return.
Slowly improving
"Gareth is slowly improving and hopefully he's on his way back," said Redknapp.
"He won't play tomorrow but shouldn't be out for too long."
Corluka will also sit out the game at Blackpool as the defender continues to recover from the leg injury suffered as a result of Mathieu Flamini's two-footed challenge in Milan last week.
Redknapp added: "Corluka had scans and will be out for a while, certainly not tomorrow and not sure how long after that."
Jonathan Woodgate picked up a groin injury against Milan on his first appearance in 15 months, but Redknapp does not believe it is a serious issue for the centre-half.
He continued: "Jonathan got a setback in Milan, he got a twinge and we felt it was pretty bad but it isn't, he's working his way back and shouldn't be too bad."
Luka Modric is available for the game at Bloomfield Road after a recent appendix operation and club stalwart Ledley King is making progress in his recovery from groin surgery.
Redknapp said: "Luka is back and fine. He's available tomorrow. Ledley is back running and hopefully won't be too long
