2022 finals to be played in the summer
Fifa president Sepp Blatter has back-tracked over previous comments about the 2022 World Cup, now confirming the finals in Qatar will remain in the summer.
Blatter had previously stated that he expected the games to move from their normal date of the summer, to the winter in order to avoid the heat of Qatar.
However, many people criticised the plans and Qatar footballing chief Mohamed bin Hammam insisted they would be progressing with a summer finals.
Now Blatter has confirmed they will indeed be remaining in the summer.
"I am not in favour of one or the other. What I did say, winter is not only January or February," said Blatter.
"I think for the time being the matter is on ice.
"Everything is settled now for summer and all the 64 matches will be played in the territory of Qatar."
