Spanish midfielder out of Colombia clash with stomach bug
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has pulled out of Spain's friendly against Colombia with a stomach bug.
The midfielder was due to travel to Madrid with the national team for the game at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, but is now remaining in London.
Fabregas played the full 90 minutes of Arsenal's 4-4 thriller with Newcastle on Saturday, but consultations with club doctors have revealed him to be suffering from gastroenteritis.
Vicente del Bosque has opted not to select a replacement for Fabregas, with the coach likely to stick with first-choice pairing Xavi and Andres Iniesta in the centre of the park.
It is not yet clear how long the 23-year-old will take to recover, leaving his participation in Arsenal's match at home to Wolves on Saturday still in some doubt.
Fabregas has won 58 caps for the World Cup and European Championship holders, scoring six goals so far in his international career.
