Trotters boss expects loan star to shine

Owen Coyle believes Daniel Sturridge has a bright future in the game after seeing him notch on his Bolton debut.

The highly-rated forward linked up with the Trotters on transfer deadline day, completing a loan switch from Chelsea.

He was handed an immediate opportunity to impress on Wednesday, with Coyle handing the 21-year-old a substitute run-out against Wolves.

The youngster got his spell at the Reebok Stadium off to the best possible start, with a last-gasp winner endearing him to the Bolton faithful.

Coyle is confident there is even more to come from Sturridge over the remainder of the season, with the Scot of the opinion that his latest signing has all the attributes required to be a top marksman.
Impact

He said: "I am so delighted. It is always nice when you get a player you believe will score goals and he pops up to score on his debut.

"Daniel was lively, composed when scoring and it augurs well for the impact he'll make this season. He looks to have a good future.

"[Wolves boss] Mick McCarthy will be disappointed as there was an error but you cannot teach the awareness that Daniel showed. He's a naturally-gifted player.

"It was welcome to get the three points and would've been a travesty had we not won.

"We had a little dip in January and started to become nervous and anxious. We also felt that in the stadium, so it was good to win."
