Midfielder has groin problem
Stand-in skipper Steven Gerrard will miss England's friendly with Denmark on Wednesday.
The Liverpool talisman, who was set to captain the side following the withdrawal of Rio Ferdinand, will play no part in the Copenhagen fixture due to a groin injury.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish revealed the news after Liverpool's shock 1-0 success at Chelsea.
Gerrard managed to play the whole 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge as he helped the Merseyside club move up to sixth in the Premier League table.
Dalglish confirmed the midfielder would report for assessment with the England doctors but said he would not be available for duty.
