Midfielder determined to continue fighting on all fronts

Frank Lampard hopes that a £71million sending spree in January can bring Chelsea some silverware this season.

Last season's Premier League and FA Cup double-winners invested heavily to take Fernando Torres and David Luiz to Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window.

Despite signing two players aged 26 and 23, respectively, with long-term potential, the recruitments have been viewed as quick-fix action by a misfiring Chelsea.

Carlo Ancelotti's team slipped off the title race pace after failing to win in six league matches between mid-November and late December and they also lost a seventh game of the season as Torres and Luiz debuted against Liverpool last weekend,

But Lampard thinks the signings will have a positive affect, as he said in the Daily Mirror ahead of Monday's London derby with Fulham: "To sign a world-class player like Torres, and a player like Luiz, who looks fantastic, was a big boost for us.

"It didn't go well at the weekend, but hopefully we can make it work.

"We've left ourselves a lot to do in the league, we'll never give up on it, but we have to fight on all directions with the FA Cup and the Champions League coming up."
