Gap between Old Firm is narrowed as Rangers hit six

Rangers closed the gap on Celtic at the top to two points with an emphatic 6-0 win over Motherwell.

Steven Naismith scored the first after just five minutes but it was Nikica Jelavic that stole the show with a stunning hat-trick.

Shaun Hutchinson was unlucky to score an own goal before David Healy wrapped up the scoring.

Hearts stayed on the coattails of the Old Firm with a Stephen Elliott brace enough to claim a 2-0 win at Hamilton.

St Mirren managed to grab a point in their quest for survival in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Inverness.

Adam Rooney netted a brace for Inverness but it was Darren McGregor that was the hero as he scored a 74th minute equaliser.

Hibernian claimed a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Easter Road.

Akpo Sodje gave Hibs a second-half lead before Victor Palsson's penalty doubled their advantage.

Francis Dickoh saw red for Hibs just three minutes later, the 73rd of an entertaining affair, before Jamie Hamill's goal threatened a comeback for Killie which ultimately never transpired.

The game between St Johnstone and Aberdeen was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
