Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand expressed his delight at their "massive" win over long-time rivals Liverpool.
A double-salvo by striker Wayne Rooney helped the Red Devils pick up the three points on offer at Old Trafford, a match Ferdinand felt his team had almost total control of.
"We controlled the whole game, especially the second half. It was almost like a walk in the park at times." he told manutd.com
The fact that Manchester United have struggled of late to record victories against Liverpool seemed to make the win even sweeter for the English central defender.
"It was massive, we've not had great results against them in recent years and this is an important point of the season in which to get this result. We're all happy." he shared.
"We wanted to win, we got a great draw last Sunday against Chelsea. Today [Saturday] it's great to get the three points and carry on from there."
Ferdinand also expressed his disappointment at allowing Luis Suarez to score, gifting Liverpool a possible lifeline.
"You have moments like that but you have to always be aware the other team has quality on their team." he said.
"Saying that, it wasn't a great goal from them. We should have dealt with the first ball in and we didn't. But in games like this the result's the most important thing."
With only two points lying between them and first position, the Red Devils will be going all out to take the win when they visit Norwich City this weekend.
