Mata: BPL more exciting than La Liga

Chelsea new boy Juan Mata says the Barclays Premier League is more exciting than Spain's La Liga because of its competitiveness.
Mata made the move from Valencia to Chelsea last summer for £23.5million and has quickly established himself as a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard's slick passing and eye for the spectacular goal - including Sunday's superb volley against Manchester United - have made him one of the best players of the season so far.
However, Chelsea have continued to struggle to produce any sort of consistent title race form with the club currently sitting in fourth place and 14 points behind leader Manchester City with 14 games to go. This is in contrast to Spain's top flight where there is a massive 23 points separating fourth from first.
As a result, Mata believes Chelsea are still capable of making a run for the title because the Premier League championship is more competitive than La Liga's firmly established Barcelona-Real Madrid duopoly.
"There are two teams in Spain with 90 or 100 points," Mata said in an interview with the Daily Mail.
"The other teams have to be third or fourth. Here, maybe five or six teams can be winners. That makes the league more exciting."
Mata went on to reveal how well he has settled down in London and that he is currently studying for two degrees at a university in Madrid while he plays for Chelsea.
"[The move to Chelsea] It was an opportunity to know another city, another country, another culture and another language," he said.
"I'm trying to know every part of London, to improve my English and enjoy the football. On my days off, I go to different parts of the city.
"If you want to be anonymous you can go to Soho or Camden and it's not a problem. There are a lot of Spanish people. If you go to Piccadilly or Oxford Circus you hear lots of Spanish voices but I'm not recognised much."
In a new report by Deloitte, Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to dominate in the 'Money League' of the world's richest clubs.
Real Madrid remain top of the money league with revenues in 2010/11 of 479 million euros (£438m) with Barcelona second on 451m euros (£398m) and Manchester United third on 367m euros (€349m).
One of the reasons given for the Spanish giants impressive revenue is that they have the advantage of being able to negotiate their individual TV rights deals.
