Jamie Murray's Australian Open hopes in the men's doubles have been dashed after falling at the second round with partner Xavier Malisse.
Murray was unable to match brother Andy - a straight-sets winner on Saturday - as his campaign Down Under was brought to a halt by Bjorn Phau and Janko Tipsarevic.
Former Wimbledon mixed doubles champion Murray, playing with Malisse in their first grand slam together, upset ninth seeds Wesley Moodie and Dick Norman in their opening match.
The triumph over the South African pair boosted confidence, and the duo continued in the same vein as they took the opening set of the Court 18 tussle.
But Phau and Tipsarevic fought back and claimed the next two sets to record a 3-6 6-4 6-3 win to put the German-Serbian combo in the third round.
