Liverpool skipper not happy with seventh spot
Steven Gerrard has challenged his Liverpool team-mates to keep pushing on up the table after admitting seventh place is 'unacceptable'.
The Reds have spent most of the campaign languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League but appear revitalised under new manager Kenny Dalglish.
Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Fulham lifted the Reds to seventh and Gerrard has been encouraged by the signs of progress.
However, the skipper has now warned the squad not to rest on their laurels and to keep striving for a higher position.
"We want more than seventh, seventh's not acceptable at this club," said Gerrard.
"If you look where we were a couple of weeks ago, of course we're happy being seventh.
"But we've got Stoke next and it's important that we keep this run going and try to get another three points and move up the table even more.
"We're not happy with seventh."

The clash with the Cottagers marked Gerrard's first involvement since being sent off 32 minutes into Dalglish's return for a second spell in charge, the FA Cup third round exit against Manchester United.
Despite missing the intervening three matches due to suspension, the 30-year-old midfielder has noticed the change that boyhood hero Dalglish has brought about.
"Training has been slightly different, different coaches (former Chelsea assistant manager Steve Clarke was recruited) coming in with different ideas and different methods," he added.
"The training over the last couple of weeks has been very enjoyable and I think the lads are taking that out there.
"Certainly at Wolves we played with freedom and the lads were superb."
