Hauraki misses out on the chance to face his former employers

Ryan Hall looks set to be fit for the start of the new Super League season after the Leeds winger managed to shake off a leg injury.

Hall has recovered quicker than expected from the knock he took in Sunday's trial game at Featherstone.

The England international has now been named in coach Brian McDermott's squad for Friday's friendly at Crusaders, though he is not certain to play.

However Hall's progress does suggest the player should be fit to play when the Rhinos kick off the season against Bradford on February 13.
Progress

"Ryan has been improving every day and the medical staff will have the final decision as to whether to play him on Friday night but we are happy to include him in the line-up with the progress he has made so far," said McDermott.

Keith Senior, Kylie Leuluai and Danny Buderus will all make their first appearances of the year in the game against Crusaders.

New signing Ben Cross is also set to play but Weller Hauraki, who was signed from the Welsh club in the close season, is still awaiting clearance, meaning he will miss out on the chance to face his old team-mates.

Leeds are also without second rower Jamie Jones-Buchanan as he continues his recovery from a leg injury he picked up in the New Year's Day game against Wakefield.
