Written By Sizzling LEO on Saturday, January 22, 2011 | 11:51 AM

WWE SmackDown from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Alongside Justin Gabriel, Ezekiel Jackson and Heath Slater, Wade Barrett kicked off this week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

The Englishman opened the show by taking the opportunity to introduce himself to the SmackDown audience. He then went on to speak about the last six months, the Nexus and his time on Monday Night Raw.

Barrett clarified the current situation in that he had been booted from the original Nexus group and admitted that he should have taken more responsibility when it came to escalating the group rather than working as an individual.

Barrett then introduced a new group to the audience - The Corre. Each of the three men alongside Barrett took turns on the mic at expressing their delight on being part of the new group.

Before Barrett could tell fans just what the new group were capable of, SmackDown GM Teddy Long interrupted.

It was clear that Teddy wasn't happy with the new group taking over SmackDown. Barrett initially tried to reason with Teddy but the GM was having none of it and ordered the group not to break or bend the any rules during their time on the brand. Should that happen, they would be ordered off the show.

Alberto Del Rio then entered the arena in one of his flash cars. Del Rio welcomed the new group to SmackDown. The Mexican said SmackDown was his show and that he was the man who was going to win the upcoming Royal Rumble match.

Yet another submission victory for Del Rio. He won this one with the Cross Armbar.

Minutes into this bout, the camera cut to the GM's office, where Teddy Long appeared to have been the subject of an attack. Teddy was seen lying on the ground unconscious and was surrounded by Vickie Guerrero and a handful of WWE medical officials.

When the match came to it's conclusion, the camera cut to the backstage area where Long was seen being stretchered into the back of an ambulance. Several members of the SmackDown roster including Dolph Ziggler, Vickie Guerrero, JTG, and Hornswoggle all looked on in shock as the ambulance exited the arena.

Dolph and Vickie then returned to the GM's office where they were confronted by Barrett's new group - The Corre. There, Justin Gabriel denied that the group had anything to do with the attack on Teddy Long. Vickie then confirmed that her boyfriend Dolph will be facing Edge at Royal Rumble but that tonight on SmackDown, Edge would be facing a member of The Corre.

Rey Mysterio def Cody Rhodes

Mysterio dialled the 6-1-9 and followed up with the splash to take out Rhodes in this one. Afterwards, The Dashing One was helped out of the ring by a referee and ringside trainer.

Todd Grisham gave us an update on Teddy Long and said that the GM had just been admitted to a local medial facility. During which, Riley and The Miz interrupted Grisham. Miz said that as WWE champion he can do whatever he wants. He said that after everything he did to Orton on Raw, he had to come and share it with the fans on SmackDown.

Next up, Tony Chimel announced an amateur wrestling challenge in which the first superstar to score a pinfall or score the most points in three minutes would be declared the winner.

Jack Swagger def Kofi Kingston

Jack Swagger beat Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston 10-9 in the amateur wrestling challenge.

Swagger might have won, but he wasn't happy about the final scoreline. The All-American American set about attacking Kofi, but Kofi struck Swagger with Trouble in Paradise to send the crowd wild.

Drew McIntyre def Trent Barreta

Drew McIntyre dominated and defeated Trent Barreta in this one. After winning the match, McIntyre attempted to shake Barreta's hand, but Barreta struck McIntyre out of the ring, which angered the Scotsman. Drew got back in the ring and was about to hit his patented DDT on Barreta when Kelly Kelly made the save.

Next up, WWE Champion Miz accompanied by Alex Riley came to the ring. Miz took the mic immediately and spoke about being awesome means doing awesome. He said this is exactly what happened this past Monday Night on Raw when he pummelled Randy Orton.

Edge then came to the ring and insisted that no such beating of Orton would have occurred if Orton hadn't been involved in a match with Ziggler just before Miz' attack took place. Miz tried to scare Edge by claiming a lot worse would happen to Edge next Monday. Edge, however wasn't phased at all and said he would take care of Miz next week.

After Edge demanded Miz leave the ring, the two had a brief face-off to build up next Monday's Champion vs. Champion match. Miz left the ring but his assistant Alex Riley went back in and walked straight into a powerful spear. Miz proceeded to pull Riley out of the ring and then aimed trash talk towards Edge.

SmackDown Main Event - Justin Gabriel def Edge

The Corre group debated and eventually volunteered Gabriel to take on Edge. Justin Gabriel defeated World Heavyweight Champion Edge in a non-title match.

Before the match got under way, Vickie Guerrero introduced Dolph Ziggler as the special guest commentator for the main event. Ziggler joined Michael Cole and Josh Matthews on commentary.

The victory came about when Edge looked to spear Gabriel. Edge set-up the spear but Wade Barrett got up on the apron which not only distracted Edge but encouraged him to knock Wade off. With Gabriel still down, Edge then went across the ring to spear Heath Slater who was also on the apron. As Slater fell to the mat below, Ezekiel Jackson, who was also stood on the apron, clotheslined Edge, which led to Gabriel getting the one-two-three.

Afterward, Edge got circled and was absolutely pummelled by The Corre. Each member of the group battered Edge with their finishing manoeuvre. The show ended with Ziggler standing with one foot on top of Edge
