Seamer confident he will be fit for the start of the World Cup

England seamer Tim Bresnan has admitted he is ahead of schedule in his bid to be fit for the start of the ICC World Cup.

Bresnan missed five of the ODI games against Australia after returning home with a calf injury.

And although the Yorkshireman is likely to miss the opening warm-up game against Canada on Wednesday, he is hoping to be clear to face Pakistan on Friday.

"There were doubts whether it was a grade two, grade one (tear). I think the fact that it bled so much probably led to the grey area," he said.

"But I think we are slightly ahead of schedule now.

"It's feeling pretty good. I hope I can get a warm-up game, but will definitely be targeting the start of the tournament.
Recharged

"I've not bowled 100 per cent since I did it. But I'm definitely back bowling 80 to 85 per cent, and then will probably go to 100 on Tuesday.

"I want to get in a few sessions at 100 per cent before I take the field for a competitive game."

Despite going into the tournament on the back of a 6-1 defeat to Australia, the 25-year-old believes England can go on to lift the trophy.

"The (one-day) series in Australia was probably a blip in the cricket we've played over the last two years," he said.

"We've got everyone fit now, and the guys have recharged their batteries back at home for four days - so we're feeling good.

"This is the World Cup. If you can't get up for the World Cup, then you probably can't get up for anything."
