Ten Doeschate dazzles as Dutch upset Kenya in Colombo

Ireland chased down a target of 245 to beat Zimbabwe by four wickets in a World Cup warm-up game in Nagpur.

Experienced all-rounder Andre Botha top-scored with 79 from 101 balls having earlier picked up 2-58 in his 10 overs with the ball.

Alex Cusack weighed in with 47 in Ireland's run chase before Kevin O'Brien (62 not out) saw his side over finishing line with three balls to spare.

They had looked set to be chasing a much lower total when they reduced Zimbabwe to 100-5, only for captain Elton Chigumbura to hit a superb century.
Captain's knock

Chigumbura smashed 103 not out off only 81 balls, including eight fours and three sixes. He shared a 52-run partnership with Prosper Utseya (26 no).

Zimbabwe had lost three wickets inside eight overs - with just 12 runs on the board - as Brendan Taylor, Charles Coventry and Sean Williams were all caught behind by keeper Gary Wilson.

Wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu helped lead a recovery effort with 45, putting on a useful 62-run stand for the fourth wicket with Craig Ervine (27).

In reply, Ireland lost Paul Stirling without scoring in the opening over and then Niall O'Brien fell to spinner Ray Price for 15, leaving the score on 40-2.

Cusack hit five boundaries and was looking good but was caught by Chigumbura off the bowling of leg spinner Graeme Cremer in the 22nd over.

Botha played a patient innings and although he lost Andrew White (19), O'Brien provided him perfect support in a 99-run alliance, the latter hitting six boundaries and two sixes to make his runs from just 61 deliveries.

Zimbabwe gave themselves late hope by removing both Botha and Wilson (seven) in the closing overs, but Ireland were still able to squeeze home.

Dutch delight

Meanwhile, fellow associate nation Netherlands enjoyed a victory themselves in warm-up action, beating Kenya by two wickets in Colombo.

Opener Seren Waters carried his bat to make an unbeaten 126 as Kenya amassed 263-5 from their 50 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

However it still wasn't enough to deny the Dutch, who were indebted to a fine innings of 98 not out from Ryan ten Doeschate.

The Essex all-rounder, who hit three fours and four sixes, received late-order help from Atse Buurman (29) and Mudassar Bukhari, who ended up on 20 not out, to see his side to their target of 264 with five balls to spare.
