Barca coach has no plans to make bid for Arsenal midfielder
Pep Guardiola has acknowledged Jack Wilshere is a 'great player', but has played down claims Barcelona will try to sign the Arsenal midfielder.
Wilshere caught the eye against Barcelona last week as Arsenal came from behind to secure a 2-1 lead in their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.
There have been suggestions that Barca may look to add the gifted teenager to their squad, having endured repeated frustration in their bid to bring Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas back to Camp Nou.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted he has no intention of selling his key players and Guardiola expects the Premier League club to stick to that stance.
Great player
"He (Wilshere) is a great player - a great player for Arsenal," said the Barca coach.
"And in any case, (Arsenal manager) Arsene Wenger doesn't sell his best players."
Guardiola is looking forward to the return meeting with Arsenal next month and is not drawing conclusions from their 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient in the FA Cup on Sunday.
"Arsenal are a wonderful side," added Guardiola.
"You will not hear me discredit Arsenal - they are a great side with a great coach and they will be a very difficult opponent. It will be a great game against a great team."
