Pakistan all-rounder to play for Royals in FP t20

Pakistan star Shahid Afridi has agreed a deal to play for defending champions Hampshire in their Friends Provident t20 campaign.

The big-hitting all-rounder had been set to join the Royals last season but had to pull out as he briefly took on his country's Test captaincy.

And Afridi, who is still the one-day skipper of Pakistan, is pleased to finally be able to join Hampshire in 2011.

"I was disappointed not to join Hampshire last season. It would have been fantastic to have been a part of the team that made history by winning the t20 trophy on home soil," he said.

"Having played at The Rose Bowl for Pakistan last year I know that it is fast becoming one of the best places in the country to watch cricket of all levels. I hope very much to play a big part in the club's success in 2011."

The 30-year-old is Hampshire's second overseas addition for the tournament, with South Africa spinner Imran Tahir also set to play.
