Returning half-back appointed captain by Castleford
Danny Orr has been appointed captain of his home-town club Castleford for the second time.
The veteran half-back, 32, skippered the Tigers during his first spell with the club between 1997 and 2003.
He subsequently left for a stint with Wigan and also spent four years with Harlequins before returning to Castleford in the close season.
He has now been selected to take over the captaincy from hooker Ryan Hudson by Tigers coach Terry Matterson who feels Orr is the ideal candidate to lead the side.
"The main reason for the change was that I was looking captain who plays for 80 minutes in most games and Danny fits that bill," Matterson stated.
"Danny has plenty of experience under his belt and the position he plays is ideal for the role. He leads from the front in everything he does.
"With the emergence of Adam Milner in the hooking position, Raz (Hudson) won't be out there as much as he has had to be in previous seasons.
"It's a really good opportunity to rotate our hookers and I think we'll get a lot more out of them.
"This will also ease the burden on Raz, although he'll still be a leader in the side amongst some of the other senior guys as well."
Orr's first official game as captain will be the season-opening derby with the Wakefield Wildcats at the Millennium Magic in Cardiff on Saturday week.
