Napoli defender Hugo Campagnaro believes the critics have unjustly labelled their season so far as a failure.
The Partenopei challenged for the Scudetto last term before ultimately finishing third, qualifying for this season's Champions League, where they have progressed to the knockout round.
However, their Serie A form has been woeful so far, with the club currently in 7th place, 14 points behind leaders Juventus, who have a game in hand.
But despite many claiming Napoli have failed to live up to expectations this season, Campagnaro insists such remarks are unwarranted.
"The criticism has been too harsh," the Argentinean told TuttoNapoli.net. "We are still in the Champions League and we eliminated one of the favourites [Manchester City] to go through.
"We have a good chance to reach the Coppa Italia final. We are missing something in Serie A, but I am convinced that the fans like the fact we are still fighting in Europe."
Napoli face a tough test this weekend in the league when they travel to defending champions AC Milan, but Campagnaro insists picking up three points at the San Siro is no beyond his team.
"We know Milan's quality, but we want to do our best," Campagnaro added. "We always play better when we give our best. The energy is always there.
"In order to win everything, we must always be at 100%. If we are at our best, no one can beat us."
Napoli's last league outing was a disappointing 0-0 draw with Cesena on Wednesday.
