Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is optimistic that tactician Pep Guardiola will put pen to paper on a contract extension soon.
Guardiola is known to prefer signing rolling one-year deals and with his current contract expiring at the end of the season, the former Barca skipper has yet to give any clear indications on his future at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona supremo Rosell though, is relaxed about the current stand-off, revealing that Guardiola has never rushed into any sort of commitment.
"We are trying to do everything necessary to convince him to stay, of course, but it is his decision," the Barca supremo told CNN.
"I still hope to renew his contract because that is what he has been doing from year to year and I hope that he remains a part of this club for many more seasons. It's what all the fans want."
Rosell conceded that the Nou Camp outfit are absolutely pleased to have secured the long-term future of Argentine schemer Lionel Messi.
"He is a gem," the 47-year-old Catalan said of the Argentine. "Not only as a player, but as a person. He is irreplaceable."
Barcelona will tackle Osasuna in Pamplona this weekend after securing their place in the Copa del Rey final with a 2-0 win against Valencia on Wednesday.
